Simon Quigley

from Ubuntu, Debian, Altispeed, LXQt

Simon Quigley is the Director of Operations at Altispeed Technologies and the Release Manager for the Lubuntu project. He is a contributor to Ubuntu, Debian, and a variety of other open source projects, as well as an Executive Producer for and a regular guest on the Ask Noah Show.

In Ubuntu, Simon is currently an official Project Member, Core Developer and a member of the Lubuntu Council, Kubuntu Council, Ubuntu Membership Board, and Ubuntu Developer Membership Board. In Debian, Simon is primarily on the Qt/KDE Team.

Often times people will associate Open Source and the Git version control system itself with GitHub, when there are many other project hosting solutions already available that often provide better features. In this presentation, I compare and contrast GitHub with several other project hosting solutions, including Phabricator, GitLab, and BitBucket, from the perspective of a project lead who has had to make the right choice for my open source team.
