This talk will provide an overview of the tools and technologies needed to create an open-source hardware monitoring system. This system, dubbed MonitorPi, uses off-the-shelf components to create a monitoring system for any computer rack, be it a data center or home closet. In the main body of the talk, I will walk through the hardware and software used. Time permitting, I will also demonstrate the system in action.

Listeners will come away with an understanding of how to set up a simple, inexpensive monitoring device that can be used in a rack, or just about any other place!
