Software freedom is important to users, but maintaining a full free software stack isn't always the easiest of tasks. Modern computing involves thousands of different licenses, pieces of software, and the hardware to run it all. The incredible level of choice could leave users paralyzed if they don't have simple guides for finding tools that respect their rights. That is where the Free Software Foundation's Licensing & Compliance Team can help. Along with a large team of volunteers we review the entire stack for sotware freedom, and generate resources to help users find what they need. This talk will explain that effort in detail, and show attendees how they can join in and help the cause. The talk will cover:
- Our license review program and license list;
- The Free Software Directory, a directory of over 16,000 programs verified as free software;
- Our distro review process and list of endorsed GNU/Linux distros;
- The Respects Your Freedom hardware certification program.
