I am a program manager at Microsoft. I work on Visual Studio's support for C/C++ with Linux and IoT devices in our Redmond WA office. As a side activity I also helped start our Maker Garage group and build out our maker space on campus.

With Visual Studio 2017 you can write cross platform C/C++ code, build deploy and debug it on a Linux machine, or use the Windows Subsystem for Linux. You can also bring your own code into Visual Studio using CMake or other build systems without any conversion. Visual Studio Code can be used directly on a Linux box for C/C++ development (and many other languages) and also provides capabilities for debugging. Marc Goodner is the program manager for Visual Studio's Linux C++ support and will show you in this session how to get started from either VS or VS Code on Windows or a Linux desktop.
